Our Massage Services

What types of massage services do you offer?

Our Registered Massage Therapists offer a range of massage services, including therapeutic massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, hot stone massage, Graston Technique®, and more. We know your body’s needs may change over time, so each session is tailored to what you need.

How do I choose the right massage or RMT for me?

Each one of our Registered Massage Therapists have unique areas of focus. We recommend getting to know our RMTs and choosing the therapist whose approach aligns with what you’re looking for. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help guide you.

What is an RMT’s scope of practice? What conditions do they treat?

Registered Massage Therapists are highly trained healthcare professionals. They assess soft tissues and joints, develop treatment plans, and use therapeutic massage techniques to support healing from injury, pain management, stress reduction, and overall movement and function.

If you have concerns like: headaches, muscle tension, postural strain, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, headaches, pregnancy-related discomfort, and chronic pain conditions, your RMT can help address them and support you.

Is massage therapy just for relaxation?

While massage is great for relaxation, it can also support you in so many other ways. Massage therapy can help relieve pain, muscle tension, and stress while also supporting injury rehabilitation, faster recovery, and your nervous system. Many clients also find it helpful for improving sleep, mobility, and overall well-being.

How often should I book massage therapy?

Most clients benefit from regular maintenance sessions, but it is okay to book as needed. Your RMT can offer guidance based on your personal needs and preferences, lifestyle, and goals.

Do you offer both therapeutic and relaxation-focused massage?

Yes, we do. Whether you’re looking for injury rehabilitation, pain management, or to support deep rest and relaxation, we’ve got you. Let your RMT know what your needs and goals are at the time of your appointment.

What is Graston Technique®?

Graston Technique® is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization used to assess and treat areas of muscle tightness, fascial restriction, and scar tissue. By gently working through these layers, this technique supports improved range of motion, reduces pain, and supports injury recovery.

How does One Body support my treatment beyond the massage itself?

Many treatments at One Body include additions designed to enhance the comfort and extend the benefits of your session. This may include hot towels, therapeutic heat packs, topical analgesics (such as Cryoderm), heated massage tables, kinesio taping, and access to complimentary filtered and mineralized water. These supportive elements are used intentionally to improve effectiveness and extend the results of your treatment.

Insurance and Billing

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes, most of our practitioners offer direct billing to the major extended health insurance providers. Make sure you check the details of your plan before booking so you can step in knowing the outcome with confidence. Please ask your preferred RMT whether they offer direct billing.

Is massage therapy covered by my health insurance?

Many extended health plans in British Columbia include coverage for Registered Massage Therapy. Coverage details vary by provider and plan, so we recommend checking with your insurer.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for massage therapy?

No referral is required to receive massage therapy. However, some insurance providers may require one for reimbursement—this depends on your individual plan.

Will I receive a receipt for insurance purposes?

Absolutely. You’ll receive a receipt after your appointment that includes all required information for insurance claims.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, debit, all major credit cards, and e-transfers. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.

Your Massage Appointment

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first appointment includes time to discuss your health history, goals, and any concerns. Your RMT will explain the treatment and ensure you feel comfortable before beginning. Your therapist will check in with you throughout your massage to ensure your comfort. Changes can be made to the treatment plan at any time.

Arriving a few minutes early allows you to settle in and complete any necessary intake forms without feeling rushed.

What should I wear to my massage appointment?

Wear whatever feels comfortable to you to your appointment. During the massage, you will be properly draped at all times, and only the area being treated will be exposed.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We understand that plans change. Please refer to our cancellation policy when booking, as notice requirements help us support both our clients and practitioners.

Do you have parking?

Our parking is located at the rear of the building (alleyway). We have five assigned spots with signage.

My preferred massage therapist is fully booked. Can I be put on a waitlist?

If you don’t see availability with your chosen therapist, you can choose the waitlist option through the Jane app, where bookings are made.

Is massage therapy safe if I have an injury or medical condition?

In many cases, yes. But to be sure, always let your RMT know about any injuries or conditions you have while filling out your intake forms so your treatment can be adapted if necessary.

Do you have pregnancy pillows for prenatal massage?

Yes, we use specialized pregnancy support pillows so you can relax in supported positions that accommodate your changing body. Pregnancy support pillows allow your treatment to feel nurturing, grounding, and tailored to your needs at every stage of pregnancy.

Will my massage be adjusted to my comfort level?

Always. Your comfort is a priority. Pressure, techniques, and focus areas can be adjusted at any time. We encourage open communication throughout your session so your massage feels supportive and aligned with your needs.

What if I’m new to massage therapy or feeling nervous?

If you feel a bit nervous booking your first session, you’re not alone. Your RMT will guide you through the process, allow time to communicate any hesitations, and create a safe, respectful environment where you can settle in at your own pace.
